Der Sänger der Band, Oliver Sykes schrieb den Text bereits im Jahr 2014, als es in seiner Ehe sehr kriselte.
Er selbst gab weiterhin an, das die genaue Botschaft des Liedes folgendermaßen gemeint ist:

"Egal wie schlecht das Zusammensein manchmal wird, die Alternative ist so viel schlimmer."

Wieso habe ich diesen Song gewählt?
Letztens Samstag hat eine Freundin bei mir übernachtet gehabt und wir hatten uns über Lieder und Personen, die wir damit verbinden, unterhalten.
Ich hatte euch ja schon erzählt, warum der Ed Sheeran Song, I see Fire, für mich so wichtig ist.
Nun ja, das jetzige Lied, Follow You, verbinde ich mit einer mir, damals sehr wichtigen Person.
Wir haben  zwar keinen Kontakt mehr, was ich mehr als schade finde, aber Musik hält ja so gesehen ewig.
Einen richtigen Grund, weshalb es gerade der Song ist, habe ich nicht.
Irgendwann habe ich ihn gehört und musste sofort an Ihn denken, was ich bis heute tue, wenn ich dieses Lied höre.
